On June 16 last, we had announcements from both Micron and Intel that raised some eyebrows. Both announced expansion plans on the same day, Micron in China, Intel in Poland. Both announcements related to Assembly/Test capacity that neither company particularly needs for the foreseeable future. Both need something from China and both are getting something from the US on condition of not investing in China. What’s going on? Let’s dig in…
