Intel's Next CEO Will Have To Deal With An Unholy Mess. But Who Will It Be?
The SCIP deals with Apollo & Brookfield, along with the DOC terms & conditions could play havoc with any moves to spin out IFS
As the dust settles after the shock “retirement” of Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger, markets turned negative on the stock overnight sending it down some 6% to close at $22.47. In sharp contrast, and somewhat ironically, Mr. Gelsinger’s departure has been a tailwind for TSMC stock which has risen over 10% since the news broke on Monday:
It’s clear to see what’s happening here. After the initial excitement over Mr. Gelsinger’s departure wore off, two realities dawned. Firstly, Intel is in a state of crisis and it’s entire turnaround strategy is now open to question. Secondly, whatever chance Intel had of challenging TSMC for either or both process or manufacturing technology leadership with Mr. Gelsinger at the helm, that ship has now sailed.
