NVIDIA @ CES 2025. Forget The AIPC, We've Got A Supercomputer PC!

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang kicked of CES earlier this week with a keynote that cemented his reputation as one of the most compelling speakers in the world of technology. Personally, I wouldn’t have gone with the shiny (was that alligator?) leather jacket, but then I’m not the tech equivalent of a rock star so what do I know?
It was an action-packed event lasting just over 90 minutes. It began with the much anticipated launch of the next generation gaming GPU series, the GeoForce RTX 50 series. This was followed by the announcement of Cosmos, an open source foundation model trained on 20 million hours of video the 20 million hours video which focuses on “physical dynamic things”. Then there was a new chip for autonomous driving, dubbed Thor, which delivers “20 times the processing capability of our last generation Orin”. Finally, for his pièce de résistance, he unveiled “Project Digits”, basically a $3000 desktop supercomputer, capable of running AI models of up to 200 billion parameters locally, details here
So much for the AI PC, this is a supercomputer PC! Despite all the excitement and the impressive announcements, NVIDIA’s share price has since fallen by almost 10% below its all time record high just prior to CES.
